The Belgrade Fair administration denied this claim and called it \u201cuntrue\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the course of the ongoing works on the regulation of the Sava riverbank, two illegal structures were removed based on final inspection rulings issued by the competent authorities of the City of Belgrade. These illegal structures were partially located on the riverbank parcel,\u201d the management stated in its announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students spoke out against the demolition in a post on the Instagram profile of the General Staff Ensemble Initiative, which, together with experts, advocates for the preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of the Republic of Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The Belgrade fair is a symbol of knowledge, modernism and meeting, not an &#8217;empty space&#8217; for the expansion of Belgrade on the water. Instead of experts \u2013 politically preferred personnel are appointed. Instead of protecting cultural heritage \u2013 private interests. Instead of public dialogue \u2013 demolition behind closed doors,&#8221; the students stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"container-lazyload preview-lazyload container-youtube js-lazyload--not-loaded\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/Zky0ucth_do\" class=\"lazy-load-youtube preview-lazyload preview-youtube\" data-video-title=\"Policija ne dozvoljava blokadu kod Sajma\" title=\"Play video &quot;Policija ne dozvoljava blokadu kod Sajma&quot;\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/Zky0ucth_do<\/a><noscript>Video can&#8217;t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/Zky0ucth_do\" title=\"Policija ne dozvoljava blokadu kod Sajma\">Policija ne dozvoljava blokadu kod Sajma (https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/Zky0ucth_do)<\/a><\/noscript><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In front of the Fair, architect Miljan Salata commented for Ma\u0161ina what the idea of the action is, but also the position of students and experts who deal with the protection of cultural heritage on the expansion of Belgrade on the water and the demolition of the Fair in Belgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A construction permit is needed to demolish an object, which the administration does not have, because the plan document is still part of public discussion. An architecture student, a citizen, and Miljan Salata, an architect, are among the detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Member of Parliament Sr\u0111an Milivojevi\u0107 told Ma\u0161ina that the police was twisting his arm and that they stopped him from doing his job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><em>A.M., I.P., A.S.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the administration denying it, the destruction of the Belgrade fair complex has unofficially begun.
