Pro-Palestine Activists in Serbia and Albania Hang Banner Against Israeli President’s Visit

The activists put up the same banner in both Belgrade and Tirana, reading: “The people of Serbia and Albanian say no to genocide. Free Palestine.”

Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited Belgrade on Wednesday, meeting with President Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, and President of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić. Yesterday, Herzog met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and President Bajram Begaj in Tirana.

Herzog visited Serbia with a released hostage that has dual Serbian-Israeli citizenship.  In Albania, Israel’s president met with the descendants of Albanians who hid and protected Jews during the Holocaust.

Serbia’s relationship with Israel has been under the spotlight recently. In 2024, Serbia sold 23 million euros worth of weapons to Israel, which are assumed to have been used in its genocide in Palestine. Albania is currently one of the top producers of fuel oil to Israel.
