The protest comes “After more than eight months into Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip which is supported by the US, European Union, and NATO,” the group wrote in a statement on Instagram.
The protest will start at Republic Square and will include a march to Jugoimport, which exports Serbian weapons to Israel. The organization Support for the People of Palestine stressed the importance of protesting these weapons sales, saying “The Serbian government of lackies, which serves the Euro-Atlantic imperialists, is collaborating with Israel and exporting weapons that are being used to kill Palestinians.”
An investigation recently published by Balkan Insight and Israeli outlet Haaretz documents the secret transport of these weapons. Since October 2023, Serbia has exported 16.3 million euros worth of weapons to Israel.
